Enrique Argote

Enrique Argote (b. 1988) is a visual artist based in Mexico City. Originally trained
in Industrial and Systems Engineering, he later graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His practice moves between sculpture, installation, object-based art, and video, and is formally constructed through the use of industrial objects and displaced materials.

His artistic practice focuses on the critique of certain structures of power and on the effort to understand the meaning of labor and the production of value in contemporary society. He is interested in deconstructing the norms that organize what is visible and what is considered legitimate, both within everyday social dynamics and within the art world. His work often incorporates didactic and participatory elements that push the viewer to reconsider what is given, opening a crack within the system.

He has participated in notable exhibitions including the Havana Biennial (2024–2025),
a solo exhibition at CROMA in Mexico City (2024), and a large-scale solo installation
at Gonzalo Fonseca’s Torre de los Vientos in Mexico City (2025), among others.
