Xawery Wolski - Portrait by Jacek Kucharczyk

Xawery Wolski

Xawery Wolski was born in Warsaw in 1960. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts and L'Institut des hautes études en arts plastiques in Paris, and the Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in New York. His work uses a wide range of techniques and media, such as sculpture, installation, drawing, fabric, knitwear, photography, found objects, and materials such as marble, terracotta, bronze, silk, wool, bread, plant seeds or stems, silicone and others. He forms the matter so that it transcends itself in poetic images, metaphors and figures. In his artistic practice, he finds answers to questions of existence, history, memory, persistence and creativity. He lives and works in Dańków.
