Xawery Wolski at the ARCOmadrid 2025
LETO Gallery is pleased to present a unique selection of works by Xawery Wolski, a renowned artist known for his monumental terracotta and bronze sculptures. This presentation reveals a more ephemeral dimension of his practice, focusing on the passage of time through material poetics.
The works on view explore the tension between permanence and transience, mass and space, tradition and innovation. Through meticulous craftsmanship and a deep sensitivity to materials, Wolski transforms raw elements into poetic metaphors. His sculptures, drawings, and mixed-media pieces unfold in a dialogue between solidity and fragility, presence and impermanence.
The Metamorphosis series, covered in hundreds of tiny terracotta thorns, evokes the sacred Mayan ceiba tree—untouchable yet persisting for centuries. Tattoos, needle perforations on paper, push the boundaries of form and perception, creating works that exist between drawing and sculpture. In Pneuma, thin wire structures sway with the movement of air, casting shadows that defy gravity and invite quiet contemplation. Wolski’s works, both grounded and ethereal, speak to the timeless dialogue between matter and spirit.
